Smashtoshi Launches “History of Bitcoin” Global Tour – A Collector’s Tribute to Bitcoin’s Cultural Legacy
Smashtoshi’s “History of Bitcoin” global tour unites 128 digital artists across five cities, unveiling a limited-edition art book that celebrates Bitcoin’s cultural legacy through fine art and innovation.
Through a worldwide series of events spanning London, Amsterdam, New York, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Smashtoshi brings together 128 leading digital artists to preserve the story of Bitcoin via original artworks inspired by its defining moments.
The project marks the launch of History of Bitcoin, a limited-edition art book unveiled at its official debut on November 11 at Asprey Studio in London. The work traces Bitcoin’s journey — from its cypherpunk roots and the publication of the whitepaper to the now-iconic “Pizza Day” milestone — through visually rich interpretation and deep research.
Featuring pieces created by internationally acclaimed artists, the 256-page volume references Bitcoin’s SHA-256 cryptographic algorithm in its design, and uses over 40 specialized print-techniques housed in a fossilized black-oak collector’s box crafted by Asprey Studio.
The First Edition will be auctioned online through Scarce City beginning December 1, with the sale concluding in Abu Dhabi in December. After the auction, 2,139 Collector’s Editions will be released — symbolically aligning with 2140, the year when the final bitcoin is projected to be mined. Each edition is bound in “Bitcoin Orange Bull Leather,” presented on a stainless steel stand engraved with the Bitcoin whitepaper, and contains a portion of the original source-code of Bitcoin.
Smashtoshi has pledged that 80 % of the auction proceeds will be donated to My First Bitcoin, a global initiative offering open-source Bitcoin education.
